JEB Stuart’s Historic Ride around McClellan’s Army During the War Between the States
 
COME AND RELIVE THE EXCITING RIDE OF THE PLUMED KNIGHT OF THE CONFEDERACY
 
The “Sons of Confederate Veterans” Edmund Ruffin Camp of Mechanicsville, Virginia will sponsor a bus tour of the famous Cavalry ride around the Union Army of General George B. McClellan by Confederate Major General J.E.B Stuart. The tour will take place on the 27th of October, 2012 and will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a free continental breakfast at the old Azalea Mall parking lot at 1200 Westbrook Ave. Richmond, Virginia with a stop for lunch, not included in the ticket price, at 12:00 noon. The tour will feature a uniformed look-alike re-enactor of JEB Stuart as one of the narrators. The tour will include points of interest along the route including an internal tour of the famous and beautiful Hickory Hill Plantation, with ground tours of the Westwood, Summer Hill and Edgewood plantation homes. The tour will also be visiting the burial site of Captain Latané the only Confederate trooper killed during the ride. Included will be an internal tour of the Immanuel Episcopal Church at Old Church and a trip to Garlick’s landing on the Pamunkey River. The tour will encompass Tunstall’s Station in New Kent County where there will be a cannon firing demonstration. There will also be stops at Charles City Courthouse and the Malvern Hill battlefield and much more. A picture souvenir brochure of homes and sites on the tour will be included. The tour will con­clude back at the Azalea Mall parking lot at 4:00 p.m. The tour will take place rain or shine, tickets price is $60.00 per person and all tickets sales are final 10 days prior to the tour.
