Save 8 Battlefields
As 2013 comes to a close, the Civil War Trust has the unique opportunity to save 1,573 acres at eight battlefields in three different states: Missouri, North Carolina, and Virginia. These are battles in the east and west, in every year of the war, fought by men under the command of Lee, Sherman, Early, Longstreet, Hancock... the list goes on. It's very rare we have a chance to save so much important land in so many different places, all in one fell swoop.
This opportunity is enhanced by an impressive $30.53-to-$1 match. That's right: each dollar you donate to this effort will turned into $30.53 through a combination of federal and state grants and a landowner's donation. With this match, we can save these 1,573 acres (valued at over $6.4 million) for $209,700!
